If an electrical problem needs urgent attention in Blackpool or the surrounding Fylde Coast, call Westwood on 01253 272 642. We offer 24/7 emergency call-outs. Explain what has happened and where you are so the team can discuss the appropriate next step and availability.
If there is a fire, smoke or immediate danger, get clear and call 999. An electrician's visit is not a substitute for the emergency services.
Describe the problem without trying to diagnose it
Useful details include what stopped working, when the problem started and whether it affects one appliance, part of the property or everything. Mention smells, unusual noises, water leaks or visible damage, but do not approach unsafe equipment to investigate.
Have your address and postcode ready. For a rented property, tell us whether you are the tenant, landlord or managing agent, and whether access or authorisation needs to be arranged.
Could it be a network power cut?
A power cut affecting nearby properties may involve the electricity network rather than your installation. Call 105 to reach the electricity network operator for power-cut information or to report a network problem.
A complete loss of power in your property alone still has several possible causes. Do not assume the consumer unit is faulty or repeatedly operate protective devices to force the supply back on.
Ask about the visit before booking
- Current availability and the expected attendance arrangements.
- The call-out charge and what it includes.
- How investigation time, parts and further work are charged.
- How any additional work will be explained and agreed.
The extent of a fault often cannot be established over the telephone. An initial visit may identify the issue or make a situation safe, while a permanent repair could require parts or a later appointment. There is no reliable universal repair time for every electrical emergency.
Help the electrician access the property
Keep people away from affected equipment. If it is safe, clear ordinary access routes and make relevant paperwork available. Tell the electrician about restricted parking, locked communal areas or an inaccessible consumer unit when arranging the visit.
Do not remove panels or attempt temporary wiring repairs while waiting. If conditions worsen, follow emergency-service advice and move away from danger.
Arrange follow-up work when needed
After investigation, ask what has been found, what remains out of use and whether further testing or repairs are necessary. Keep the explanation and any documentation with the property's records.
For urgent help, call 01253 272 642. For the service area and further details, see our emergency electrician service. A contact form is better suited to planned work than a time-sensitive fault.
